I wanted to post
this well before under “Experiment with little of everything”. But then I got a
request as how can we have varieties in a meal? So, I decided to pen this post
under “Reader’s Choice”. Certainly you would be bored cooking just a veggie or
you might extend to lentils and Indian bread or rice. Breaking free from the
daily saga of foods is little challenging for sure.
Followed by Friday noon, a fixed situation again as I had an egg, handful of okras and bitter gourd to experiment with. I decided toss okras and potato together and fried bitter gourd with onions. Served a pressure cooked rice & lentils (Khichdi) with omelet and salad. At last, I finished up my weekdays and geared up for Saturday morning veggies shopping again.
Good luck with
your little experiments.
Most often we
are lack of ideas and time, end up having either little or no liberty for varieties.
How quick and better can we do this? Only
clicked me last week (before the request was made) as what better I could make
out from the little left over veggies. The only solution was “to experiment”. That’s
right!! Do not hesitate to experiment. I made trials for 2 consecutive days and
of course it did work out. J
Thursday noon, I
was left with few carrots, handful of spinach and little salad. I made Spinach
Bread (Palak Roti), Tossed carrots in salt and lemon, mixed salad in a non-fat
greek yogurt and mint dip and lentils of course. It was the best lunch ever I
could make in terms of varieties. Sometimes, experiment does work J I guess!

Now, this can be
adapted to everyday lunches or dinners, making a nice mix and match of little
veggies, salads and breads. This brings out not only the flavors but also adds
numerous varieties to your meals.
