Let’s be smart in order to be quick!

Life is pretty hectic for every other person. Be a single or married, mother of a kid or two or or a working couple. As many combinations as possible, it’s exhausting for each one us. Everyone needs to sort out cooking; cleaning, shopping groceries, working, playing et al. The music of responsibility gets pretty louder every day. This post is applicable to every other person (working or non-working) who loves eating at home and every other person who spends his or her time in kitchen for sure.

It’s a quick tip that everyone can enjoy! I am home maker. But I do need time for my activities like reading, blogging, yoga and spending quality time with my husband. I want to quicken up my time spent in kitchen. To be very honest, I don’t like to spend much time in kitchen.  I always feel meal preparation should be quicker.  So, I thought to share this tip of being quick in preparing food with you.

This can also be helpful to people, who either opt for frozen foods or have little time to chop the veggies. We hardly have any time for chopping all the fresh veggies and making a healthy dish out of it. So, in this post I am taking a chance to give you a great idea for making things quicker in kitchen. A little smartness helps us a lot to be quicker in our chores.

There are certain kitchen widgets that you should own in order to make things quicker and easier. To begin with, Kitchen Shears (Scissors) though I had a kitchen Shear, I wanted to get professional set of shears for Kitchen, Household and Poultry. This is super quick in many ways.
Nutcracker features, cutting your food plastics, cardboards, bottle opener, chopping fine greens. Poultry shears for trimming poultry, fish and other hard to cut foods.

Oh!! I am a huge fan of “Cuisinart”, they have fabulous products that quicken up my job and easy to handle. Since, I have got this 4 Cup Chopper & grinder; I am relaxed from fine chopping and grinding too - ginger, garlic, tomatoes, mint leaves is like a baby’s game.

Well, apart from above, my tip is to be smart in reducing your job of chopping while cooking. I chop most of my veggies on Saturdays post vegetable shopping from “Farmer's Market”. That’s right! I do not shop form Walmart or any other greens store that claim to provide fresh veggies. Pardon me! But that’s not true to me at least.
I wash, wipe, chop and store veggies for the week. Of course, there are few veggies that cannot be chopped well before hand. But you can make your work quicker with the few that you can. Don’t you think so ?
You will need, storage bags to store your veggies.

To begin with green chilies, remove the stems, wash, wipe and store. So next time you want to cook anything. Use your kitchen shear and kick off cooking. You can also wipe them with wet kitchen towel, followed by dry and store.

Spring Onions, chop the ends, wash them thoroughly, let them dry till then you can work on other veggies, once dried, chop and store.

Cauliflower, oh these are the best. Chop out the larger steams followed with breaking up the flower pieces and store. Wash just before using.

Green Corianders/Cilantro, of course you cannot wash them. Hence, I chop out the stems and wipe with wet kitchen towel and chop it fine with kitchen shear again and store. So while cooking all you need is to wash and use J

Okra/Lady Finger – Wash, dry, chop and store.

Mint – If not making any dip of it you can pluck out the leaves and store. Wash before using.

Ginger and garlic – If you like to have them in form of a paste, grind them together with salt and store. I like to have it chopped so I use instant.

Lemon- Ahh!! I remember this very well. I use to sqeeze all lemons and store it in a jar for my mum. As, every morning she use to have lime juice and I hated to squeeze them first thing in morning. So, I guess it worked for both of us.
Onions, freshly chopped are better. However, if you are working and want to cook your lunch box in the morning. A night before you can chop whatever you are planning to cook and store. Next morning, all you need to do is COOK J No chopping!

Above are few examples. I hope this post helps you to quicken your cooking time. I have one more benefit of chopping these veggies. My refrigerator looks mostly organized J No messing up.

Have a great day!
