Best Foods to Boost your Metabolism

It would be very unfair to just mention the foods and encourage you to eat without analyzing its trueness. I asked myself that does these foods boost the metabolism for longer durations or shorter?

Thinking about it, made me bump into couple of sites and bit of research. In conclusion, these foods do spike your metabolism but for shorter durations. That means, if you are on diet for weight loss or looking for losing few pounds then you can involve few of these foods as snacks in order to spike your metabolism and burn few more calories.

This is not more about the only foods that you should consume in order to lose weight but also to make your diet healthy, fresh and green.

Green Tea: It contains healthy catechin that speeds up your brain and nervous system, causing your body to burn more calories.
My take on this: Green Tea is surely a good option for drinking it at snack times. It is a more potent antioxidant than black tea. It’s worth letting it in your diet.

Almonds: Almonds’ essential fatty acids help raise your body’s metabolism.
My take on this: In this post, I have already mentioned my intake of fatty acids. You should certainly have a little amount of fatty acids in your diet. So grab on these munchies and boost your metabolism while you need most.

Grapefruit & Apples: Like Grapefruit, Apple is a low-calorie snack is high in fiber, which your body must burn calories to break down. Plus, since apples help you stay full for longer, you’ll eat less.
My take on this: Fruits are anytime welcome in my diet - High fiber, rich in vitamins & minerals, full and healthy. Replacing carbs with fruits is always a better idea.

Greens like Spinach, Broccoli & Beans: Spinach & Broccoli contains an impressive pack of metabolism boosting nutrients – Calcium, Vitamin C, iron and antioxidants. Beans are rich in protein, no fat and filling.
My take on this: Of course Spinach is my favorite green. Though I am not great fan of Broccoli, this week I have started to incorporate it in my diet esp in high protein recipe like any chicken recipes. You can also toss them in any veggie salads or dishes. Beans, I have always seen boiled stack of beans along with carrots and potatoes as the side dish in UK.
Any dish that you order is mostly accompanied with the veggies mentioned above.  It seems pretty staple to Brits. However, I love eating them though just the boiled would not be an impressive take to Indians as we are the great lovers of Curry.  So, smiles on the faces people because Curry, Cinnamons and Jalapenos are also part of the list.

Curry, Cinnamons and Jalapenos: Zing of Cinnamon plays a crucial role to metabolize sugars more effectively and maintain steadier blood sugar levels. It also helps lower your cholesterol.  Capcaisin found in Jalapenos causes body to burn extra calories and speed up metabolism just like curry.
My take on this: I use Cinnamon only in lavish Indian curries or Biryanis’. Curry and Jalapenos do not work out well for me as my digestive system cannot take anything spicy that is more than mild. However, if you are wondering that you eat curry yet you put on weight then you got to think of it from a big picture.
The oil you use? Are you frying it too much? The side dishes that you use with the curry also matters. I prefer low fat greek yogurt along with curry for 2 reasons: 1. It helps my digestive system and cools down the spicy affect. 2. It’s a low fat yogurt – A better option.
Have a good day!
